On February 26, 2025, the Refugee Council of Lithuania conducted an important partners’ meeting as part of the Bridging the Financial Gap Project. This initiative is dedicated to addressing the financial challenges faced by refugee entrepreneurs in Lithuania, fostering collaboration between NGOs, government agencies, and financial institutions to create more inclusive financial opportunities.
Key discussion points and findings:
📌 Financial barriers – Refugee entrepreneurs struggle with access to funding due to administrative constraints, lack of collateral, and limited financial literacy resources.
📌 Language challenges – Many support programs and financial resources are only available in Lithuanian, making it difficult for refugees to navigate available opportunities. Improving translation services and establishing multilingual platforms are critical.
📌 Tailored financial solutions – The importance of non-collateral loan options and customized funding mechanisms was emphasized to better support refugee-led businesses.
📌 Upcoming initiatives – The project will continue its efforts through capacity-building, awareness campaigns, and a networking event on April 2, 2025, aimed at connecting refugee entrepreneurs with key stakeholders.
